The Mission of the T&T Heart Foundation is to promote heart healthy lifestyles and the prevention of

heart disease in Trinidad and Tobago. As such we have the following initiatives ongoing to accomplish this:

 

“Know Your Heart”  Lecture Series

Continues at the San Fernando General Hospital, while the North series is due to commence in

March 2006 (date to be announced) at the Mt. Hope Medical Sciences Complex.

"Live Healthier, Live Longer!" Newsletter

Publication of this quarterly newsletter began in November 2005, with an initial target distribution of approximately 3,000 persons. The second issue, due in March 2006, will see this figure increase by a further 500, as copies will be sent to most primary and secondary schools throughout the country, as well as health centres. The newsletter, which features articles on heart health information, tips and prevention as well as healthy lifestyle guidelines such as diet and exercise, is distributed free via both postal mail as well as e-mail.

Health Fairs and Expositions

The T&T Heart Foundation participates at Health Exhibitions/Fairs organized by NGOs, churches plus other interest groups, providing a continuous supply of updated, varied literature aimed at disseminating information on the preventative measures against Heart Disease and Stroke.

Corporate Logo Sponsorship Program - A Consumer's Guide To Healthier Shopping

Commencing in March 2006, Corporate Logo Sponsorship Program is a partnership between the T&T Heart Foundation and Corporate entities involved in the promotion of their products with proven health benefits. The program will cover a wide range of products including: food, beverages, medical equipment/devices and nutritional supplements. Products bearing the “Proud Sponsor of The T&T Heart Foundation” logo, either on its packaging or promotional material or both, must offer some type of health or nutritional benefit, for example low sodium, high in vitamins, lactose free, high in anti-oxidants, all natural, low cholesterol, etc. The health or nutritional benefit the product provides is not limited to heart-health, but rather overall health.

As with any product purchase decision, please read product labels for details on ingredients and health claims.
